Valentine nails + mini tutorial

Valentine’s day is almost here again. And, although I’m not a big fan of celebrating it, I decided to do a nail art to celebrate love and happiness. And I made a small tutorial for you guys. Hope you enjoy it!

What you need:

• Basecoat and topcoat

• White nail polish

• 4 different pink/red nail polishes

• Dotting tool (or in case you don’t have a dotting tool: bobby pins, tooth picks, …)

How:

1. As always you start by applying a transparant base coat. This will protect your nails and it will also make your mani last longer.

2. When the base coat is dry, paint all your nails white. I always do two coats for the base of the nail art.

1. After that it’s time to start dotting a heart! I chose to do it on my middle finger, because that finger has a big nail. Start by dotting the edges and then just fill it up. It doesn’t really matter which colour you use first or where, because it can be messy, it doesn’t have to be neat and clean. We’re going for arty and edgy! In the picture of the tools you can see my setup for dotting the heart. I put a little bit of every colour on a piece of paper. Because it’s not really hygienic to go in the bottle with a dotting tool and it’s also easier and quicker if you got the nail polish ready in front of you. And this way you can also close your bottles again, so they don’t dry out (yes I know, I didn’t do it properly in the picture, I was a bad girl).

1. After you’ve made your heart it’s time to finish off your other nails. Use the colours that you used for the heart to make a French Manicure, every nail gets a different coloured tip.

TIP: If you’re not good at making a French Manicure, use some tape or paper hole reinforcements to make a nice curvy line.

1. Finish off with a transparant topcoat! This will give your mani a nice shine and it will also make it last longer on your nails. Et voila, Valentine’s nails are done.
